Why AI4Peace Matters

In an era where artificial intelligence is reshaping every aspect of human society, its role in promoting peace, preventing conflicts, and protecting human rights has never been more critical. AI4Peace brings together leading researchers, policymakers, technologists, and peace practitioners to explore how AI can be harnessed as a force for good in building a more peaceful and just world.

This conference serves as a unique platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, fostering collaboration between AI experts and peace scholars to address the most pressing challenges at the intersection of technology and global security.

Call for Contributions

We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to submit original research across 13 thematic areas.

Art. 1Institutional Promoters

The Global Biennial Symposium & International Conference "AI4Peace" is promoted and organized by the University for Peace (UPEACE) Rome Centre, the Pontifical Academy for Life, and the Pontifical Lateran University.

Art. 2Subject of the Call

This call invites researchers, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to submit original contributions for the AI4Peace 2026 Conference, to be held in Rome, Italy, from September 20-22, 2026. Submissions should address the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and peacebuilding across the specified thematic areas.

Art. 3Institutional Purposes

The initiative aims to:

  • Advance interdisciplinary research on AI applications for conflict prevention and resolution.
  • Foster global dialogue between technologists, ethicists, and peace practitioners.
  • Develop actionable frameworks for responsible AI deployment in sensitive geopolitical contexts.

Art. 4Ethical Framework

All submissions must align with the core values of the promoting institutions, emphasizing the protection of human dignity, the promotion of integral human development, and the use of technology as a catalyst for sustainable peace and justice.

Submission Guidelines

Originality: All submissions must be original research not previously published or under review elsewhere.

Length: Papers should be 5,000-8,000 words including references and appendices.

Abstract: Include a 250-300 word abstract clearly stating your research question, methodology, and key findings.

Review Process: All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two international experts.

Presentation: Accepted papers must be presented at the conference by at least one author.
