EU Future and Emerging Technologies Flagship Human Brain Project (HBP) - PhD studentship opportunities
News | 17-02-2020 14:45Two PhD opportunities are available with the EU Future and Emerging Technologies Flagship Human Brain Project (HBP). The PhDs will be based at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, UK, at the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility (CCSR), a research centre focusing on ethical and social issues of information and communication technology.
Within the HBP, the CCSR currently leads the ethics support work which includes responsible research and innovation, compliance management, dual use, ethics-related data governance, data protection, and ethics of artificial intelligence.
The two successful applicants for the PhD studentships will undertake research under the supervision of the HBP DMU team, currently consisting of four Research Fellows and a Professor.

It is envisaged that the PhD research will be undertaken as PhD by Concurrent Publication.

What is funded
Awards are offered for 3 years (36 months) full time. The scholarships cover
PhD Fees at the Home/EU level (£4,330 p.a for 2019-20)
The UKRI maintenance allowance (£15,009 for 2019-20)

Eligibility
In order to be admitted as a student for a research degree programme, an applicant shall normally possess a UK Honours degree with at least an upper second-class honours, or an academic or professional qualification which is deemed to be equivalent.
Due to funding restrictions, applications are open to UK/EU students only.
