Herman T. Tavani, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Rivier University where he has taught, both full and part time, since 1980 and also served, for many years, as chairperson of the Philosophy Department and director of the Liberal Studies Program. Professor Tavani has taught philosophy courses for nearly half a century, teaching his first philosophy class in September 1971 at West Chester University (where he also earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees). He has taught at many other colleges and universities during his career, including Boston College and Temple University (where he received his doctorate in 1978)
